My Personal Surrogacy Story
I delivered a beautiful baby girl September 22, 2023 for an amazing couple! I went through Extraordinary Conception and was matched with them a little over a year prior. My first zoom meeting with them (they live in London) was like reconnecting with old college friends, it was an immediate connection and I knew I was meant to help these guys have their baby! It took 3 transfers, 3 trips to Canada, and SOOOO many positive pregnancy tests. The IF's were so involved, and having a planned C-Section, and being a Doula myself, I opted not to get one for this birth. Looking back and after developing Cholestasis @ 24 weeks it would have been great to have some support for the IF's to understand what was happening and how things would change for delivery, mainly so it didn't all fall on me and my support person to explain it to them. Postpartum it would have been very beneficial to both myself and the IF's to have lactation services as they had never fed a baby and I had never exclusively pumped before.
